Revelations of Love

A life transformed by the love of God

Planning on Changing My Plans.

A lesson that I had to learn the hard way a few years ago seems to keep coming up for me these days..  I am a planner by nature, and I’m very future-oriented by nature, which doesn’t make for a good combination when it comes to GOD and his plans for me.

I’ve definitely learned (and still learning) not to make any assumptions when it comes to God and the things I can expect, in any given area of my life.

Many are the plans in (Eunice’s) heart, but it is the LORD’S purpose that prevails” -Prov 19:21 aka the theme verse of my LIFE.

I think more than anything, I’ve learned that God’s ways are simply not my ways.  Some times I find myself nervous to speak out my plans for the future in fear that it’ll turn out exactly the opposite of what I hoped, because I somehow end up holding onto my plans tighter and relying on the certainty of what I predict it will bring, rather than holding onto the constancy and faithfulness of my Father. As much as we can try to control the environment around us and our futures, the only true constant in this world is God and his faithfulness.. He’s faithful even as he, in His DIVINE KINDNESS, completely destroys my plans and yet never fails to orchestrate the most beautiful, creative, and often redemptive and humbling ways of fulfilling his purposes for my life.

HOLDING ONTO THE CONSTANCY AND SECURITY IN JESUS IS BETTER THAN HAVING PLANS GO PERFECTLY MY WAY.

Make plans (at your own risk! haha) - God did create “J“‘s for a reason (otherwise, all the P’s in the world would crash and burn and we would live in anarchy if it weren’t for us!). But don’t ever let them become your idols.  Even all our plans to do great things for the Kingdom of God can become an idol sometimes, and undoubtedly, without fail, God will strip us of them every time.

Lord, have your way.
